I urged my wife to file with EEOC after her employer made comments of a sexual nature, undressed her with his eyes and even placed a pornographic DVD in her in-box with a note offering sex. Guess what happened? Absolutely nothing other than they made false allegations against her and fired her without giving her a chance to defend herself. Not only that, but everytime she applies for another job, her former employer personally gives her a horrible recommendation causing her to not get hired. EEOC, they gave her a right to sue letter that was good for only 30 days. We couldn’t afford a lawyer because they fired her and couldn’t find a pro-bono attorney who wasn’t tied up in a case or wanted to take the case on. Now it’s four years later. We moved away to start fresh and she has an excellent work history at a different employer making minimum wage but wants to advance. She applies at a larger agency but gets turned down because she filed a complaint and the harraser got away with it and again gives her a horrible recommendation. I wish I could go back in time and stop her from making an EEOC complaint.
